Aim:
The course aims at illustrating the versatility and usefulness of the methodologies of the programme by solving applied manufacturing problems. Selected real-life cases in manufacturing management from various disciplines are assigned to student teams. The goals of knowledge for the course are:
  • knowledge about methods for the entire process of problem identification
  • knowledge about selection of evaluation criteria
  • knowledge about model formulation,
  • knowledge about analytical and simulation processing,
  • knowledge about solution analysis and presentation.


Prerequisites: (valid for students admitted to programmes within which the course is offered)
60 ECTS credits of courses within the Master Programme.

Note: Admission requirements for non-programme students usually also include admission requirements for the programme and threshhold requirements for progression within the programme, or corresponding.

Organisation:
Project work in groups under supervision.

Course contents:
Facility Layout Simulation. Facility Location Simulation using Multi-Criteria Methods. System Dynamic Analysis of Supply Chains. NC, Operational Production Activity Control Simulation. Leitstand, Shop Floor-Level Simulation.

Course literature:
Handouts for specific cases (IEI).

Examination:
Project work, report and presentation.
