TMMV17 Aircraft Aerodynamics - Project Course, 6 ECTS credits.
/Aircraft Aerodynamics - Project Course/

For:   AER   M

Prel. scheduled hours: 48
Rec. self-study hours: 112

  Area of Education: Technology

Main field of studies: Mechanical Engineering

  Advancement level (G1, G2, A): A

Aim:
The aim of the course is to develop skills to do an aerodynamic analysis of a design concept. The work is to be done as a project including planning of the project. After completing the course, the students will
  • be able to transform a conceptual design into a model for an aerodynamic analysis, and for design refinement.
  • be able to apply CFD as a tool for aerodynamic analysis.
  • be able to define design cases for aerodynamic analysis.
  • have experience from working in a team with product development.

Prerequisites: (valid for students admitted to programmes within which the course is offered)
Aerodynamics, Computational Fluid Dynamics, Aerodynamics Advanced Course, Engineering Systems Design, Conceptual Aircraft Design, Prototype Realization - Project course

Note: Admission requirements for non-programme students usually also include admission requirements for the programme and threshhold requirements for progression within the programme, or corresponding.

Organisation:
The course is carried out as a project with regular meetings. In addition, there are lectures in project specific topics.

Course contents:
In the course, theory and methodology from previous courses are brought together in order to do a thorough aerodynamic analysis of a concept. Subsequently, adequate improvements based on the analysis are evaluated and proposed. Planning of the work in order to finish on time is an important part.

Course literature:
Material from earlier courses and project specific literature.

Examination:
Project work
6 ECTS

Course language is English.
Department offering the course: IEI.
