Aim:
The course aims at providing deeper understanding of the principle and application of sensors in medicine and biology. A major part of the course is project-oriented and the participants design, construct and evaluate a sensor for a specific purpose.

Prerequisites: (valid for students admitted to programmes within which the course is offered)
TBME 50 Biomedical Engineering

Organisation:
Lectures and seminars (14h) and a project work (26h).
|

Course contents:
Identification of the measurement problem, sensor techniques
Physical principles for registration of biomedical parameters
Measurement techniques, signal-noise-ratio, measurement errors. Special sensors, e.g. fiberoptics. Biocompatibility
Project work e.g. sensors for measurement of body temperature, ultrasound sensors, fiberoptic sensors for pressure measurement .
