The course aims to give basic knowledge of wave motion and propagation with applications in optics and acoustics

Organisation:
The content of the course is presented at lectures. Assignments will be given to solve problems which demand the use and the understanding of the theory. Laborations will illustrate some of the phenomena that are discussed at the lectures the laborations are introduced at special lectures. Physical seminars are also included (see NFYA56)

General wave motion and wave propagation. The wave equation and its solutions.hanical waves, acoustics. Electromagnetic waves. The propagation of light, reflection and refraction. Geometrical optics. The superposition of waves, polarization, interference and diffraction
