Aim:
This course is an introduction to the Russian language, phonetics and morphology and every day life situations. By the end of the course the students will have the ability to read simple texts, express themselves based on the grammar and vocabulary studied in class. The students will have an understanding of Russian culture and politics.

Prerequisites: (valid for students admitted to programmes within which the course is offered)
This course is directed towards people who do not have Russian as a first language

Note: Admission requirements for non-programme students usually also include admission requirements for the programme and threshhold requirements for progression within the programme, or corresponding.

Organisation:
Lectures are given in the form of reviewing theory, oral and written practice. Apart from scheduled classes, homework is required. Summer courses go part time

Course contents:
Alphabet, pronunciation rules and grammar including: different types of nouns, adjectives, verbs, pronouns etc. Everyday situations: personal presentations about ones family, country and texts from the book.
