Aim:
The course aims to build up students' confidence to use English effectively in their studies as well as in their future work. They will be trained to use English in both informal and formal situations where the language is spoken or written.

Prerequisites: (valid for students admitted to programmes within which the course is offered)

Organisation:
The 40-hour course consists of a text course and an oral proficiency course. It is given during two periods in the first or second year depending on the programme. The course is organized in the form of seminars where students' active participation is required.

Course contents:
The course focuses on reading comprehension, oral and written proficiency. Texts are general or technical. Other elements are role play, simulations, presentation techniques, social small talk and intercultural awareness.

Articles from newspapers, magazines and professional journals.
