Aim:
The aim of the course is to give a basic knowledge about applications and user services in the field of intelligent transport systems. Another aim is to practice and develop oral and written communication skills. After the course the students should be able to
  • describe the function, impacts, benefits and challenges for the most important ITS-applications
  • explain how information technology and telecommunication can help satisfying goals in terms of efficiency, safety and environmental impact
  • analyse and discuss some specific ITS-application from a chosen viewpoint
  • make an opposition and critical review of a master thesis report
  • make written presentations of a project work based on scientific writing principles make an oral presentation of the project work


Prerequisites: (valid for students admitted to programmes within which the course is offered)

Organisation:
Lectures, seminars and project assignments.

Course contents:
The lectures covers various application areas of intelligent transport systems such as systems for traveller information, traffic management, incident management, electronic payment and toll collection., advanced driver assistance and collision avoidance., freight and commercial vehicle operations. Oral and communication skills: the student is to write a research paper, give a presentation of a research paper and act as an opponent .
