Aim:
The course is to give the student a comprehensive knowledge of the theory of plasticity and its numerical treatment (FEM), and the ability to independently apply this knowledge to concrete problems. At the end of the course the student shall be able to
- give an account of basic aspects of the classical plasticity- and creep theory
- give an account of the numerical treatment of plasticity problems by FEM
- formulate and analytically solve problems regarding the stress- and deformation states in bodies and structures undergoing plastic flow or creep
- identify unrealistic results
- use FEM to solve plasticity problems

|
Prerequisites: (valid for students admitted to programmes within which the course is offered)
Multi-variable calculus, Solid Mechanics including plate- and shell theory and FEM
Note: Admission requirements for non-programme students usually also include admission requirements for the programme and threshhold requirements for progression within the programme, or corresponding.
