Aim:
After completion of courses Botany 1 and Botany 2 the student have acquired an over all view of structure and function in plants by studies of the structure, systematics, plant evolution and physiology of plants. The courses deals with the classical botanical disciplines.

Prerequisites: (valid for students admitted to programmes within which the course is offered)
General Chemistry, 20 points and Biology, 20 points (Cell Biology, Genetics, and Microbiology), or equivalent.

Note: Admission requirements for non-programme students usually also include admission requirements for the programme and threshhold requirements for progression within the programme, or corresponding.

Organisation:
Lectures, laboratory work and seminars.

Course contents:
This course includes the most important photosynthesizing groups in the Kingdom Plantae, including their evolution. The course deals with anatomy of plants linked to the function of the different systems. Also plant growth and development, transport of water and nutrients is treated.
