Aim:
The course provides deeper studies in chosen topics in the area of information security.
|

Prerequisites: (valid for students admitted to programmes within which the course is offered)
Basic course in security (e.g. TSIT84 or TSIT85).
Note: Admission requirements for non-programme students usually also include admission requirements for the programme and threshhold requirements for progression within the programme, or corresponding.

Organisation:
The course consists of two parts, an overview part and an individual deeper studies part. The overview consists mainly of lectures and a study of literature. The deeper studies consist of an individual project in a sub-field of information security.

Course contents:
Part 1:
This part deals with theory and is based on lectures and a literature study. The detailed contents can vary from year to year based on ongoing research at LiU and current research in the field.
Mainly the following topics are addressed:
- Risk and vulnerability analysis
- Security in mobile systems /mobile networks
- Evaluation standards, e.g. Common Criteria
- Copy protection
- Mobile code (virus, agents, applets etc)
- Current research at LiU (can coincide with other topics)
- Standards and common implementations in the field.
Part 2:
In this part the students perform an individual project, where each student studies one of the topics of part 1 or another topic whitin the field. The project can be of theoretical of practical nature.
