The course aims at the understanding of how an information network works and of how the choice of parameters affect its performance.

Introduction: ARQ, protocol initialization. Queueing models: M/M/1, M/M/m, other Markov systems. Statistic multiplexing: splitting algorithms, Aloha, CSMA/CD, CSMA/CA multiaccess methods. Packet Radio. Routing methods. Flow control methods. Future Information Networks.
