Aim:
After the course the student should be able to analyse a situation from a computer security point of view identify relevant threats and countermerasures and choose the most efficient of available countermeasures create a plan for increasing and maintaining security based on the analysis document all this, so that the plan can easily be adapted to changed circumstances

Prerequisites: (valid for students admitted to programmes within which the course is offered)
Basic knowledge of computers and their use.

Note: Admission requirements for non-programme students usually also include admission requirements for the programme and threshhold requirements for progression within the programme, or corresponding.

Course contents:
How to work with computer security in a structured manner. Analysis of vulnerabilities and risks. How to create and maintain a plan for security. Main types of products and methods in the computer security field. Details about availability, user authentication, access control, network security and the use of cryptology.

Examination:
A written examination
5 ECTS
 
The examination can be taken in Linköping, or, after agreement from the course administration and the host organisation, at any other academic institution regularly organising controlled examinations.
