What is the meaning of an efficient use of resources and why do markets sometimes fail? Macroeconomic theory. In this part the level of aggregate production and the use of resources on a national level is central. Important factors are the total output, Gross Domestic Product, and the growth rate. The use of labour is linked to the production and employment, or umemployment, is another macroeconomic variable. The price level and its change, the inflation rate, as well as the transactions with other countries, the balance of payments, are important factors.
