AIM OF THE COURSE
On completion of the course, the student should be able to: - describe, explain and apply the parts of the course syllabus for the subject of Physical education that concern primary and lower-secondary school and the upper secondary school - adapt, lead and motivate activities where the goal is understanding of health based on pupils' different conditions - account for and go through the goals that concern the subject of Physical education according to current curricula and course syllabi and that concern Physical activity and health, and give examples of how these may be evaluated
Course contents
The health of children and adolescents is in focus. The course covers theoretical perspectives and practical applications in physical activity and health in school based on current steering documents. Main fields of study are physiology, exercise training and diet and nutrition.
CONTENTS
The health of children and adolescents is in focus. The course covers theoretical perspectives and practical applications in physical activity and health in school based on current steering documents. Main fields of study are basic physiology, exercise training and diet and nutrition. The course also concerns aspects such as stress, sleep and body image.
TEACHING
The teaching takes the form of lectures, seminars, workshops, literature studies and group assignments. Outside of the scheduled studies, the students continuously document and reflect on the course contents in portfolio form.
EXAMINATION
The course is examined through oral and written presentations of group assignments and a written examination.

Students failing an exam covering either the entire course or part of the course two times are entitled to have a new examiner appointed for the reexamination.

Students who have passed an examination may not retake it in order to improve their grades.
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

GRADING
A grade of Pass with Credit, Pass or Fail is given for the course
CERTIFICATE
Course certificate is issued by the Faculty Board on request. The Department provides a special form which should be submitted to the Student Affairs Division.
COURSE LITERATURE
The course literature is decided upon by the department in question.
OTHER INFORMATION
Planning and implementation of a course must take its starting point in the wording of the syllabus. The course evaluation included in each course must therefore take up the question how well the course agrees with the syllabus.

The course is carried out in such a way that both men´s and women´s experience and knowledge is made visible and developed.
