AIM OF THE COURSE
After having finished the course, students shall:
- be able to compare and contrast different educational systems in at least two countries.
- be able to apply learning processes when doing practise in pre-schools or schools
CONTENTS
The course presents different theories on the concept “knowledge and learning”. The course also includes discussions on teaching and learning with regard to cultural diversity and gender. Different educational systems are studied and examined. Teaching practice in organizing learning processes and teaching is also provided.
TEACHING
Instruction is given in the form of lectures and seminars. Students are expected to prepare for lectures and seminars by reading recommended texts and take part in all group work. Students are also expected to take active part in discussions, lead seminars and be opponents on each other’s papers. Students are also practising in pre-schools or schools
EXAMINATION
Examination is done through written individual or group (2 students) assignments, active, constructive participation in seminars and practise in pre-schools or schools.

Students failing an exam covering either the entire course or part of the course two times are entitled to have a new examiner appointed for the reexamination.

Students who have passed an examination may not retake it in order to improve their grades.
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

At least 60 credits approved on undergraduate level. Documented proficiency in English corresponding to English B / English 6. Exemption from the Swedish B.
GRADING
CERTIFICATE
Course certificate is issued by the Faculty Board on request. The Department provides a special form which should be submitted to the Student Affairs Division.
COURSE LITERATURE
The course literature is decided upon by the department in question.
OTHER INFORMATION
Planning and implementation of a course must take its starting point in the wording of the syllabus. The course evaluation included in each course must therefore take up the question how well the course agrees with the syllabus.

The course is carried out in such a way that both men´s and women´s experience and knowledge is made visible and developed.
