AIM OF THE COURSE
On completion of the course, the student should:
- have acquired knowledge of some ancient handicraft techniques and be able to put these in a cultural - historical perspective.
- through practical work have developed an understanding of how to adapt ancient handicraft techniques to today's technology and possibilities
- have acquired knowledge of how to use the natural and the cultural environment for learning and be able to reflect on how the recently acquired knowledge can be used to explain historical stages and reinforce the learning process
- have developed and presented an assignment where the natural and the cultural environment is the starting-point in the learning
CONTENTS
The course covers ancient history, and we carry out a few simple ancient handicraft techniques in different hard and soft materials adapted to the materials and methods of today. The course gives an overview of ancient history and how practical knowledge may be actualised in our time. Experiences acquired during the course are connected to and actualised in the natural and cultural environment outdoors. The student should reflect on recently acquired experiences and how these can be actualised in relation to the natural and cultural landscape based on a location in the local environment, chosen by the student.
TEACHING
The course contains lectures and a field trip in the cultural landscape and own practical work with hard and soft materials.
EXAMINATION
The course is examined through written and practical individual presentation.

Students failing an exam covering either the entire course or part of the course two times are entitled to have a new examiner appointed for the reexamination.

Students who have passed an examination may not retake it in order to improve their grades.
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

GRADING
A grade of Pass with Credit, Pass or Fail is given for the course
CERTIFICATE
Course certificate is issued by the Faculty Board on request. The Department provides a special form which should be submitted to the Student Affairs Division.
COURSE LITERATURE
The course literature is decided upon by the department in question.
OTHER INFORMATION
Planning and implementation of a course must take its starting point in the wording of the syllabus. The course evaluation included in each course must therefore take up the question how well the course agrees with the syllabus.

The course is carried out in such a way that both men´s and women´s experience and knowledge is made visible and developed.
