AIM OF THE COURSE |
On completion of the course, the student should be able to: - use music as a tool to reach non-musical goals where a special educational approach is observed - carry out a written assignment where the course contents are observed and related to current research and literature in the field |
CONTENTS |
The course covers (both theoretically and practically) music as a tool for development, health and therapy in a broad perspective with focus on children and adolescents. The course contains theoretical and practical studies of people in need of specific support and music as a tool to reach non-musical goals with a special educational approach. Creating opportunities for learning and development with music and movement as the starting point is emphasised. The course also contains study visits, practical applications of music, rhythmics and action songs and different music therapeutic specialisations. The course also includes study visits and an individual written assignment. |
TEACHING |
The course is carried out with an aesthetic and special education approach. The course includes lectures, seminars, workshops, study visits and course assignments, both individually and in groups. Studies and processing of literature, individually and in groups, are also included Independent studies, individually and in groups, are also included in the course. |
EXAMINATION |
The course is examined through written examination and practical presentation.
Students failing an exam covering either the entire course or part of the course two times are entitled to have a new examiner appointed for the reexamination.
Students who have passed an examination may not retake it in order to improve their grades. |

GRADING |
A grade of Pass with Credit, Pass or Fail is given for the course |
CERTIFICATE |
Course certificate is issued by the Faculty Board on request. The Department provides a special form which should be submitted to the Student Affairs Division. |
COURSE LITERATURE |
The course literature is decided upon by the department
in question. |
OTHER INFORMATION |
Planning and implementation of a course must take its starting point in the wording of the syllabus. The course evaluation included in each course must therefore take up the question how well the course agrees with the syllabus.
The course is carried out in such a way that both men´s and women´s experience and knowledge is made visible and developed. |
