AIM OF THE COURSE
On completion of the course, the student should have:
- An understanding of and basic skills in exercising situational leadership in mountain landscapes.
- Basic knowledge of group development.
- Knowledge of different perspectives of the natural and cultural environments and the history and traditions of mountain tourism.
- Good knowledge of mountain safety and the ability to turn the knowledge into concrete assessments.
CONTENTS
The course is given in mountain landscape and the students are given the opportunity to exercise situational leadership in authentic situations. Through feedback and dialogue, the participants are given the possibility to develop their leadership. Group processes are linked to experiences in the student group and are put into a practical context. The natural and cultural environments of the Swedish mountain world are highlighted from several perspectives. The ability to convey natural and cultural experiences is exercised in authentic situations where safety and risk assessment is in focus.
TEACHING
The course begins with a web-based theory part where we use the learning management system It's Learning. The field part consists of a walk with stay-over in mountain huts and tents/bivouac, depending on the time of year. the students are given the opportunity to practice their leadership both in authentic situations during the walk, and at training sessions arranged by the teacher. Certain examining parts occur during the field part. The course is examined through an individual, written reflection assignment where the course literature is linked with the practical exercises. Certain situational, examining parts occur during the course. The course is carried out in such a way that the experiences and knowledge of both men and women are acknowledged and developed, and inter-cultural perspectives are taken into consideration.
EXAMINATION

Students failing an exam covering either the entire course or part of the course two times are entitled to have a new examiner appointed for the reexamination.
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

GRADING
A grade of Pass or Fail is given for the course
CERTIFICATE
Course certificate is issued by the Faculty Board on request. The Department provides a special form which should be submitted to the Student Affairs Division.
COURSE LITERATURE
The course literature is decided upon by the department in question.

Planning and implementation of a course must take its starting point in the wording of the syllabus. The course evaluation included in each course must therefore take up the question how well the course agrees with the syllabus.
