AIM OF THE COURSE
On completion of the course, the student should have:
- knowledge of outdoor activities, where nature experiences and understanding of culture constitute the basis
- theoretical knowledge of and practical skills in the physiology, teaching and learning and didactics of outdoor activities
- knowledge of the importance of leadership in outdoor activities and learning in the outdoor environment
- knowledge of the linguistic dimension of the landscape
CONTENTS
The educational history and roots of outdoor education should constitute the basis together with the physiology, teaching and learning and didactics of outdoor activities. The basis consists of current research in the fields outdoor education and outdoor activities, outdoor activities as natural and cultural traditions and outdoor activities in pre-school, school child care and school. Approach to knowledge, knowledge transmission, knowledge through action and systematised reflection are included as essential parts of the course. The importance of leadership is highlighted. Structuring and evaluation of guided outdoor activities are included as subparts together with stories and legends linked to the landscape.
TEACHING
The working methods consist of lectures, seminars, study visits and own practical work. The major part of the education is located in different environments out-of-doors. The assignments are carried out as group work and/or independent work.
EXAMINATION
The course is examined continuously through a reflection assignment linked to the activity at each course date and the course literature. Presented final assignment is required to pass the course.

Students failing an exam covering either the entire course or part of the course two times are entitled to have a new examiner appointed for the reexamination.
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Documented knowledge of English equivalent to Engelska B/Engelska 6. Exemption from Swedish B.
GRADING
A grade of Pass or Fail is given for the course
CERTIFICATE
Course certificate is issued by the Faculty Board on request. The Department provides a special form which should be submitted to the Student Affairs Division.
COURSE LITERATURE
The course literature is decided upon by the department in question.
OTHER INFORMATION
Planning and implementation of a course must take its starting point in the wording of the syllabus. The course evaluation included in each course must therefore take up the question how well the course agrees with the syllabus.

The course is carried out in such a way that both men´s and women´s experience and knowledge is made visible and developed.
