Assessment of Knowledge in Schools for Pupils with Learning Disabilities , 15 ECTS Credits

AIM OF THE COURSE
On completion of the course, the student should be able to:

- account for and use the steering documents of the special school regarding approach to knowledge and knowledge qualities in the assessment of knowledge
- distinguish and problematise different dimensions and forms of knowledge
- use basic theories of knowledge assessment to review and reflect on questions that apply to teachers' work with assessment and grading in the special school practice
- independently plan and carry out an objective assessment of learning and be able to argue for and explain the design of the assessment
- use a subject relevant language based on behavioural science research and theory to analyse and evaluate knowledge assessments of children with intellectual disabilities
- identify factors that may influence the implementation of assessments and grading
CONTENTS
The course covers (a) the function of the special school in relation to the pupils' learning, (b) knowledge and aspects of learning, (c) basic theories of measurement and assessment (d) tests and other assessment strategies, (e) grading and (f) feedback on assessments and assessments as educational aids.
TEACHING
The teaching takes the form of lectures, seminars and group assignments. During the course, the student should carry out a number of compulsory course assignments in connection with the literature studies, which are presented orally and in writing. In addition to scheduled time, students are expected to work with independent studies, individually and/or in groups.
EXAMINATION
The course is examined through oral and written presentations of course assignments and a final examination assignment.

STN1 15 HE credits

Students failing an exam covering either the entire course or part of the course two times are entitled to have a new examiner appointed for the reexamination.

Students who have passed an examination may not retake it in order to improve their grades.
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

two completed semesters on the teacher programme or equivalent.
GRADING
A grade of Pass with Credit, Pass or Fail is given for the course
CERTIFICATE
Course certificate is issued by the Faculty Board on request. The Department provides a special form which should be submitted to the Student Affairs Division.
COURSE LITERATURE
The course literature is decided upon by the department in question.
OTHER INFORMATION
Planning and implementation of a course must take its starting point in the wording of the syllabus. The course evaluation included in each course must therefore take up the question how well the course agrees with the syllabus.

The course is carried out in such a way that both men´s and women´s experience and knowledge is made visible and developed.
