Mål

Learning outcomes By the end of the course the students will be able to: -Describe and exemplify problems in current research within the field of cellular and molecular immunology -Describe regulation of the immune system in relation to the molecular mechanisms for immunopathogenesis -Identify the state of art of a chosen topic by a bibliographic litterature search to summarise and assess the findings in an oral presentation and a review-like written report -Analyse and critically evaluate current research on given topics -Design and implement a given laboratory experiment on immune responses in vitro and evaluate and interpret the generated data -Apply knowledge and integrate results from current research in immunology in order to discuss new hypotheses in immunobiology

Undervisning/Arbetsformer

Lectures, tutorial groups, laboratory experiments and essay writing. The educational method used is problem-based learning (PBL). PBL emphasises the student´s development of free, self-supporting, lifelong learning ability as an instrument for critical inquiry. The students own queries and formulated problems form the basis of PBL. Important is also the student´s ability to take responsibility for his/her own learning, and to seek and evaluate information and knowledge and to train co-operation and a flexible attitude to different views and ideas. The course is given in such a way that both men´s and women´s experiences and knowledge are made visible and developed.

Examination

Examination forms may include active participation in tutorial groups and seminars, written and oral examinations, writing and oral presentation of reports/essays, completed assignments and examination of practical skills. The examination forms will specified by the course organizer when the course starts. Students who have failed two times on the course or part of the course are entitled to request another examinator at the new examination occasion. Omfattning av omexamination och förnyad bedömning av verksamhetsförlagd utbildning För såväl omexamination som förnyad bedömning av verksamhetsförlagd utbildning gäller att omfattningen skall vara densamma som vid ordinarie examination respektive första bedömningstillfället. Vid underkänt på verksamhetsförlagd utbildning får studenten göra detta moment ytterligare en gång. Tidpunkt för omprövning bedöms i varje enskilt fall men kan ske endast när lärare och handledare finns att tillgå. Anmälan till examination/tentamen Inför varje kurs anges hur anmälan till examination skall gå till. I övrigt tillämpas Föreskrifter rörande examination och examinatorer enligt beslut vid Linköpings Universitet. Antal examinationstillfällen Resurskrävande examinationsformer är begränsade till sammanlagt fem gånger; d vs student som inte godkänts vid ordinarie examinationstillfälle har möjlighet att genomgå provet vid ytterligare fyra tillfällen. Därefter ges inget ytterligare tillfälle. Övriga examinationsformer har studenten rätt gå igenom ett obegränsat antal gånger. Tidpunkten för omexamination skall anges i början av varje termin. Den studerande har rätt att anmäla behov av stöd efter två underkända prov.

Förkunskap

Regulations concerning general eligibility in accordance with the Higher Education Ordinance, Section 7, paragraph 28 and in addition special requirements in accordance with Section 7, paragraph 31, i.e at least three years of full-time undergraduate studies in a main subject area with relevance for Life Science, e.g. from faculties within medicine, techinal/natural sciences, odontology, pharmaceutical science. The lowest acceptable grade from undergraduate studies is Pass.

På kursen ges betyget Godkänd eller Underkänd.
