The aim of the course is to give insights into Nordic cultural life, expressed in Art, Craft, Dance and Music. The course will also give the participants the possibility to take part in Nor-dic natural outdoor activities as part of their recreation and learning. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

The main content of the course explores the four Nordic Cultural and geographical envi-ronments; the mountain scenery, the cities, the countryside and the coast. From these envi-ronments the following will be studied: - The Nordic traditions and the high festivals - Traditional Nordic dances and songs - The Nordic history of art and music - Myths in the Nordic culture The mountain scenery - snow as a creative material - snow as a bed for transportation - the Lapps and the Swedes. Coast and the lakes - to live in the archipelago - a disappearing culture - the creative beach The city - to live in a Nordic city today - young people of today The countryside - the Nordic view of nature - outdoor life - a way of living |

You will be required to give a written documentation of a comparative study of your na-tive countries culture and your experiences with the Nordic Culture. The project should be supported by (documentation form both outside and within the re-sources available through the) IT. Students who have failed an examination are normally allowed to retake it on two additional occasions. Students failing an exam covering either the entire course or part of the course are entitled to have a new examiner appointed for the reex-amination. Students who have failed an examination are normally allowed to retake it on two additional occasions, one of which should be arranged shortly after the first examinationn. Students failing an exam covering either the entire course or part of the course three times are entitled to have a new examiner appointed for the reexamination. |

Only general admission requirements: Completion of an upper secondary education and skills in English, both written and oral, corresponding to the level of English required in Swedish upper secondary education (eg. a TEOFL-score of at least 500 points for paper based test, 197 points for computer based test or 61 points for internet based test; IELTS with at least 5,0 overall and no part under 4,5, or equivalent) Documented knowledge of English equivalent to "Engelska A", or an international proficiency test, e.g. TOEFL, minimum score 500/173. |
