AIM OF THE COURSE
is that students shall acquire basic knowlede in the behavioural sciences and qcquire an orientation in using behavioural concepts and methods when analysing human behaviour.
CONTENTS
Basic knowledge in Behavioural Sciences, 15 p

Sociology, 5 p
This course will provide basic knowledge in different perspectives and central concepts in Sociology:
- social change and social structure in a micro and macro perspective
- social inequality
- social control
- devaiant behaviour
- social interaction

Psychology, 5 p
The course will discuss central problems in:
- perception, cognition, learning
- motivation, emotion
- personality, psycho-pathology, therapy
- test theory

Education, 5 p
The focus is of this course is on learning and human development. In Education human development and learning is studied in realtion to different contexts.

Project, 5 p
Each student is expected to write an essay on a topic concerning some aspects of a theme dealt with in the course.
TEACHING
Teaching takes the form of lectures and discussion seminars. Individual supervision is proviede for the project. Written tests are given on the literature and the project will be discussed at seminars. The course will be given in English.
EXAMINATION
The lecture courses culminate in written examinators. All curses members are expected to actively participate in seminar discussions.

Students who have failed an examination are normally allowed to retake it on two additional occasions, one of which should be arranged shortly after the first examination.

Students failing an exam covering either the entire course or part of the course three times are entitled to have a new examiner appointed for the reexamination.

Students who have passed an examination may not retake it in order to improve their grades.
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
Only general admission requirements: Completion of an upper secondary education and skills in English, both written and oral, corresponding to the level of English required in Swedish upper secondary education (eg. a TEOFL-score of at least 500 points for paper based test, 197 points for computer based test or 61 points for internet based test; IELTS with at least 5,0 overall and no part under 4,5, or equivalent)
To be admitted to the course visiting and exchange students should have at least one year of undergraduate studies and documented knowledge of English. For Swedish residents general eligibility for higher education is required. For visiting and exchange students “documented knowledge of English B” means a TOEFL-score of at least 550 or equivalent test (if your native language is not English).
GRADING
The course is graded according to the ECTS grading scale A-F
CERTIFICATE
Course certificate is issued by the Faculty Board on request. The Department provides a special form which should be submitted to the Student Affairs Division.
COURSE LITERATURE
The course literature is decided upon by the department in question.
OTHER INFORMATION
Planning and implementation of a course must take its starting point in the wording of the syllabus. The course evaluation included in each course must therefore take up the question how well the course agrees with the syllabus.

The course is carried out in such a way that both men´s and women´s experience and knowledge is made visible and developed.
