Ethics, Thesis , 15 ECTS Credits
COURSE CATEGORY   Fristående kurs
MAIN FIELD OF STUDY   Religious Studies - RKA
  COURSE CODE   790G76
On completion of the course, the student should be able to:
- account for a chosen speciality in ethics,
- formulate an issue in ethics and examine it independently in the form of an essay by means of the theory and method traditions of the discipline,
- search, interpret and critically review materials relevant for the examination of the issue,
- analyse, assess and discuss others' theses in ethics.
An issue in the subject of ethics is examined independently, on the basis of the theory and method traditions of the discipline. The results are presented in writing and defended at a thesis seminar. The course also includes discussing other students' thesis plans and completed theses.
The independent thesis work is supported by supervision, introductory seminars, mid-way reviews and final thesis seminars. All students are expected to prepare for and participate in the seminars, in an active and constructive way. The students should also study independently.
The course is examined through compulsory seminars, where thesis plans are analysed and discussed, the student's own thesis is defended and, normally, a review of another thesis is carried out.

Students failing an exam covering either the entire course or part of the course two times are entitled to have a new examiner appointed for the reexamination.

Students who have passed an examination may not retake it in order to improve their grades.

Completed Religious Studies - Ethics, in-depth course, 15 HE credits, or the equivalent, with at least 7.5 HE credits approved.
A grade of Pass with Credit, Pass or Fail is given for the course
Course certificate is issued by the Faculty Board on request. The Department provides a special form which should be submitted to the Student Affairs Division.

Planning and implementation of a course must take its starting point in the wording of the syllabus. The course evaluation included in each course must therefore take up the question how well the course agrees with the syllabus.

The course is carried out in such a way that both men´s and women´s experience and knowledge is made visible and developed.
