AIM OF THE COURSE
On completion of the course, the student should be able to:
- account for and compare different evaluation methods and project forms, and their respective fields of use
- apply and demonstrate different evaluation methods and project forms as tools for change, development, and quality assurance
- critically reflect on and analyse different evaluation methods and project forms in relation to the different institutional conditions of specific organisations
- critically analyse and assess social processes that have importance for work with processes of change from implementation to evaluation
- plan, carry out and evaluate concrete work with processes of change, from implementation to evaluation, mainly in the public sector
- based on an economic benefit approach, explain an evaluation and a project
- critically reflect on and analyse different perspectives and concepts central to the course in relation to the development, mainly in the public sector.
CONTENTS
The course covers current quantitative and qualitative evaluation methods and different project forms. The course mainly focuses on the welfare sector, but is also relevant for evaluation and projects in the industrial life and other organisations. In connection with this, evaluation and work in project form is put in relation to other knowledge production, both practice-oriented and scientific. Development in the public sector is used as a context for an understanding of how different project forms and evaluation instruments have become increasingly important in the organisation of institutions central to society. The difference between managing projects or evaluating change management that is carried out in organisations or as cooperation projects between organisations is addressed.
TEACHING
The course participants should work actively with case studies. The course should facilitate strengthening the knowledge of, and the ability to be a part of, concrete work with social processes that have importance for work with processes of change, from implementation to evaluation, mainly in the public sector.

The course includes independent studies, practical exercises, workshops and seminars, where the student is expected to account for retrieved material/literature and the individual professional and personal starting point, both orally and in writing.
EXAMINATION
A fictitious project with following evaluation is presented orally and in writing.

Students failing an exam covering either the entire course or part of the course twice are entitled to have a new examiner appointed for the reexamination.

Students who have passed an examination may not retake it in order to improve their grades.

GRADING
A grade of Pass with Credit, Pass or Fail is given for the course
CERTIFICATE
Course certificate is issued by the Faculty Board on request. The Department provides a special form which should be submitted to the Student Affairs Division.
COURSE LITERATURE
The course literature is decided upon by the department in question.
OTHER INFORMATION
Planning and implementation of a course must take its starting point in the wording of the syllabus. The course evaluation included in each course must therefore take up the question how well the course agrees with the syllabus.

The course is carried out in such a way that both men´s and women´s experience and knowledge is made visible and developed.
