Students who have passed the final examination are eligible for university studies in Sweden in accordance with the regulations set by the National Agency for Higher Education (HSVFS 1996:22 §4) determining that the education is equal to Swedish 2 course B at Swedish secondary schools or municipal schools for adult education.
The entire course package will also lead to eligibility in social studies for course A (ShA).
A prominent feature of this course is that it is geared to higher education and is run in close cooperation with those organizing the courses for students´ continued studies. The entire course package entails full-time studies for one academic year and is divided into two semesters.
|The course package comprises one year (two semesters) of intensive full-time studies. Students should acquire a basic knowledge of Swedish and develop their language proficiency as well as gaining familiarity with Swedish society and the Swedish system of education. They should acquire a rapidly progressing knowledge of essential basic grammar as well as acquire a functional and relevant vocabulary.
The course begins with an introduction, which will provide information about practical matters, the Swedish system of higher education, cultural encounters, etc as well as practical help and awareness of how it is to live, study and function socially in Sweden. There will also be a survey of the study techniques common in Swedish higher education, including exercises on how to work in groups.
|Tuition comprises whole-class and group teaching, pronunciation and listening comprehension training in the language laboratory. Attendance is compulsory.|
|The course is examined by means of continual assessment and active participation in class is required. There is also a final written exam.
Students failing an exam covering either the entire course or part of the course two times are entitled to have a new examiner appointed for the reexamination.
For admission to the College Course, applicants must meet the general and special eligibility requirements applicable for admission to the subsequent course/programme applied for, with the exception of the requirements in Swedish. The course is only offered to applicants not having Swedish as their mother tongue.
|The course is graded according to the ECTS grading scale A-F|
|Course certificate is issued by the Faculty Board on request. The Department provides a special form which should be submitted to the Student Affairs Division.|
|The course literature is decided upon by the department in question.|
|Planning and implementation of a course must take its starting point in the wording of the syllabus. The course evaluation included in each course must therefore take up the question how well the course agrees with the syllabus.
The course is carried out in such a way that both men´s and women´s experience and knowledge is made visible and developed.
