AIM OF THE COURSE
Having completed the course, the student should be able to
- demonstrate knowledge in the behavioural sciences
- display a good orientation in using behavioural concepts and methods when analysing human behaviour
- demonstrate a capacity to apply basic theoretical perspektives in analysis of organizations, community and society
- plan and carry out a minor project using basic behavioural science methods
CONTENTS
Basic knowledge in Behavioural Sciences, 30 hp

Sociology, 7,5 hp
This course will provide basic knowledge in different perspectives and central concepts in Sociology:
- social change and social structure in a micro and macro perspective
- social inequality
- social control
- deviant behaviour
- social interaction

Psychology, 7,5 hp
The course will discuss central problems in:
- perception, cognition, learning
- motivation, emotion
- personality, psycho-pathology, therapy
- test theory

Education, 7,5 hp
The focus of this course is on learning and human development. In Education, human development and learning is studied in relation to different contexts.

Project, 7,5 hp
Each student is expected to write an essay on a topic concerning some aspects of a theme dealt with in the course.
TEACHING
Teaching takes the form of lectures and discussion seminars. Individual supervision is provided for the project. Written tests are given on the literature and the project will be discussed at seminars. Language of instruction: English.
EXAMINATION
The lecture courses culminate in written examinations. All course members are expected to actively participate in seminar discussions.



Students who have passed an examination may not retake it in order to improve their grades.
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

To be admitted to the course visiting and exchange students should have at least one year of undergraduate studies and documented knowledge of English. For Swedish residents general eligibility for higher education is required. For visiting and exchange students “documented knowledge of English B” means a TOEFL-score of at least 550/213 or equivalent test (if your native language is not English). For Swedish residents English B is required.

The course is graded according to the ECTS grading scale A-F

OTHER INFORMATION
Planning and implementation of a course must take its starting point in the wording of the syllabus. The course evaluation included in each course must therefore take up the question how well the course agrees with the syllabus.

The course is carried out in such a way that both men´s and women´s experience and knowledge is made visible and developed.
