CONTENTS | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
The course consists of the following parts: Introduction to Tourism Analysis, 7.5 HE credits This module gives an introductory holistic perspective on the emergence of tourism as a meeting between a general transnational system and the local and specific locations of tourism. The module has a consistently historical perspective and shows the development behind present-day tourism. Tourists, Hosts, Operators, 7.5 HE credits The module is based on the contrast between the tourist as a traveller and the tourist as a temporary guest. Tourism interaction from a guest perspective through the tourist as a participant in meetings between conceptions of the world, cultural values and social organisation is in focus. The module also highlights the tourist in everyday life, outside the tourist role and travel. Touristic Fields, 15 HE credits The module problematises and analyses tourism from a location perspective. At the same time, the role of tourism in local development strategies and in local self-image and identity is analysed. Tourism is studied as a part of an international economic system, which is managed in part by political representatives and has consequences for how culture and nature is understood and represented. Questions of how tourism relates to different dimensions of long-term sustainability is therefore of significance. |
