AIM OF THE COURSE
On completion of the course, the students should, on an advanced level within the field of Gender Studies – Intersectionality and Change, be able to:
- analyze and critically reflect on genealogies of current theories and research debates within the field;
- critically reflect over and account for the field’s relationship to social movements politics, ideas, taken into account local and global diversity;
- critically assess and analyze the field’s complex relationships between different political areas, and affiliations between related social movements.
CONTENTS
The course addresses:
- genealogies of current debates and knowledge within the field of study, and their relationship to politics, ideas and social movements in a historical and contemporary perspective, taking into account both local and global perspectives;
- relationships between different kinds of intersectional and feminist politics and affiliations between feminist and other related social movements.
TEACHING
Lectures followed by discussions take place in the online classroom. Knowledge is further reinforced during online-seminars and -workshops. In between online-seminars and -lectures students study the course literature independently and communicate with each other online in peer learning groups, supervised by student tutors.
EXAMINATION
The course is examined through active participation in online-seminars and -workshops through continuous written individual assignments, submitted online.

Students failing an exam covering either the entire course or part of the course two times are entitled to have a new examiner appointed for the reexamination.

Students who have passed an examination may not retake it in order to improve their grades.
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

A bachelor’s degree in the humanities and/or social sciences with at least 30 credits in Gender Studies or equivalent qualifications and documented knowledge of English equivalent to Engelska B/Engelska 6; i.e. English as native language or an internationally recognized test, e.g. TOEFL (minimum scores: Paper based 575 + TWE-score 4.5, and internet based 90), IELTS, academic (minimum score: Overall band 6.5 and no band under 5.5), or equivalent.
GRADING
The course is graded according to the ECTS grading scale A-F
CERTIFICATE
Course certificate is issued by the Faculty Board on request. The Department provides a special form which should be submitted to the Student Affairs Division.
COURSE LITERATURE
The course literature is decided upon by the department in question.
OTHER INFORMATION
Planning and implementation of a course must take its starting point in the wording of the syllabus. The course evaluation included in each course must therefore take up the question how well the course agrees with the syllabus.

The course is carried out in such a way that both men´s and women´s experience and knowledge is made visible and developed.
