AIM OF THE COURSE | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
On completion of the course, the students should, on an advanced level within the field of Gender Studies – Intersectionality and Change, be able to: - identify, critically analyse and account for relevant processes of change; - design and carry out a relevant case study, taking into account and arguing for appropriate theoretical, methodological, analytical and ethical frameworks; - work effectively and constructively in a team taking into account the resources of all team members. |

The course includes: - methods to integrate intersectional gender analytical approaches when analysing processes of social, cultural, technological, scientific, political, environmental and/or bodily change; - visual and textual analysis, ethnographical fieldwork including interviews and observations, analysis of genealogies and discourse analysis; - relevant theoretical, methodological analytical and ethical frameworks, e.g. transversal dialogues, empathic reading etc . |

Lectures followed by discussions take place in the online classroom. Knowledge is further reinforced during online-seminars, -workshops and/or other learning activities. In between online-seminars and -lectures students study the course literature independently and communicate with each other online in peer learning groups, supervised by student tutors and teacher(s). The course is examined through active participation in the online-seminars, -workshops, and/or other learning activities through continuous written individual assignments, submitted online, and through a case study, which is to be documented in a written report, submitted online. Detailed information about the examination can be found in the study guide and key information document. Students failing an exam covering either the entire course or part of the course twice are entitled to have a new examiner appointed for reexamination. Students who have passed an examination may not retake it in order to improve their grades. A bachelor’s degree in the humanities, fine arts, science, technology or social sciences with at least 30 credits in Gender Studies or equivalent qualifications. Documented knowledge of English equivalent to Engelska B/Engelska 6: internationally recognized test, e.g. TOEFL (minimum scores: Paper based 575 + TWE-score 4.5, and internet based 90+TWE-score 20), IELTS, academic (minimum score Overall band 6.5 and no band under 5.5), or equivalent. |
