AIM OF THE COURSE

- to reflect over and account for what significance ethics and ethnology have for drama communication
- to plan and carry out a drama communicative exercise
- to complete a field study connected with subject-related literature
CONTENTS
The course comprises basic theory and practice in drama communication. The course includes teaching segments in which we test and train group forming exercises, improvisation, using sagas and myths as sources of inspiration, leadership and interpretation on the stage. During a residential weekend in the spring, partly financed by the students themselves, they learn about and test a team building method. In addition the student will make a deeper investigation of some part of the subject by carrying out a field study. This course has a clear communicative content, with the focus on interpersonal relationships.
TEACHING
The course has an experience-based method of working to permit the student to gain deeper knowledge of all the various elements of the course. Studies are focussed on experience oriented creative and reflective work in teacher-led and non-teacher-led forms of work. Lessons are characterised by practical work and reflection on it. Teacher-led exposition of theory is one element, but to a great extent students acquire knowledge individually and in groups. Practice and theory will be linked in the tasks set for examination. The student is required to prepare for and actively participate in lectures and group work, peer guidance of fellow students, literature seminars and examinations. Both teacher-led instruction and group work are documented.
EXAMINATION
Students are examined throughout the course, and the forms are scenic, oral and written. A field project is included, and is examined by presentation and peer opposition in a seminar. The examination also includes opposition on a fellow-student's work. Obligatory elements during the course are such examinations as are detailed in the course guide, and the literature seminars that demand a discussion protocol. All examinations are based on the content of the instruction.

Students failing an exam covering either the entire course or part of the course two times are entitled to have a new examiner appointed for the reexamination.

Students who have passed an examination may not retake it in order to improve their grades.
