| AIM OF THE COURSE |
On completion of the course, the student should be able to
- understand and use basic concepts of design and colouration
- visualise and communicate shape ideas by means of different sketching techniques
- with a deliberate approach, shape and present objects in two- and three-dimensional form
- analyse and make quality assessments of own work and the work of others from a shape and colour perspective
- demonstrate a reflective approach to variations of aesthetic expressions and creative processes

| CONTENTS |
| The course covers basic concepts of shape and colour theory, composition, layout and patterns. The student experiments with different sketch and visualisation techniques in two and three dimensions as basis for applications in individually selected materials. The course, to a large extent, contains practical experimental work with an emphasis on development of ideas and variation possibilities in form and colour. The student also works with analysis and assessment of aesthetic expressions and creative processes. The course is completed with a summarising individual assignment that is presented both orally, visually and with written reflections. |
| TEACHING |
| The teaching takes the form of lectures, seminars, supervision and practical work. The course work is carried out both in groups and individually, in both teacher-supervised and independent forms. The course includes performing oral, written and visual presentations of the results of course assignments. |
| EXAMINATION |
The examination of the different parts of the course is arranged in part through active participation in seminars combined with an individual written assignment. The course is also examined through oral, visual and written presentations of practically implemented tasks and reflections on the results, both in terms of process and product.
Students failing an exam covering either the entire course or part of the course two times are entitled to have a new examiner appointed for the reexamination. |

| A grade of Pass or Fail is given for the course |
| CERTIFICATE |
| Course certificate is issued by the Faculty Board on request. The Department provides a special form which should be submitted to the Student Affairs Division. |

Planning and implementation of a course must take its starting point in the wording of the syllabus. The course evaluation included in each course must therefore take up the question how well the course agrees with the syllabus.
The course is carried out in such a way that both men´s and women´s experience and knowledge is made visible and developed. |
