| Mål |
After completion of the course the student should have a fundamental knowledge of the geography and history of the country and its people and the role the church has played in the country’s development from the Christianization of Sweden until the present time. The student should have a rudimentary knowledge of various aspects of Swedish culture, for example, art and literature. are explored including art and literature. Students gain fundamental knowledge of the country, its history and people, and its culture, thereby providing a foundation for better understanding Sweden and its people.
The student should have acquired the ability to deal many of the myths concerning Sweden and Swedish life.

| Kursinnehåll |
”Sweden and the Swedes” consists of two parts:
Part I. “What is Swedish about Sweden?” (7.5 HSP)
This section of the course deals with the geography, history and religious history essential to understanding the Sweden of today.
Part II. ”Cultural Dimensions” (7.5 HSP)
This part of the course studies various elements of the cultural life of Sweden. This may include various aspects art, architecture, literature, daily life, etc.

| Undervisning/Arbetsformer |
| Instruction takes place mainly in the form of lectures, although seminars may also be held in which the students may be expected to participate actively. An excursion is included with several instructors acting as guides. |
| Examination |
Studerande som underkänts två gånger på kursen eller del av kursen har rätt att begära en annan examinator vid förnyat examinationstillfälle.
Den som godkänts i prov får ej delta i förnyat prov för högre betyg. |
| Förkunskap |
Documented knowledge of English equivalent to "Engelska B"; i.e. English as native language or an internationally recognized test, e.g. TOEFL (minimum scores: Paperbased 550 + TWE-score 4.0, computorbased 213 and internetbased 79), IELTS, academic (minimum score: Overall band 6.0 and no band under 5.0), or equivalent.
