MAIN FIELD OF STUDY   History - HIA
SUBJECT AREA
  COURSE CODE   751A09
AIM OF THE COURSE
On completion of the course, the student should be able to
- demonstrate advanced knowledge of current historical-scientific problems
- critically assess and evaluate scientific literature.
CONTENTS
The course comprises in-depth studies of the history of a region or a chronological period, or a specific historical-scientific theme. The specialisation alternatives are above all based on the prevailing research profile of the subject, but also on other higher education institutions in the country. The course therefore intends, among other things, to prepare the student for third-cycle programmes, both nationally and internationally.
TEACHING
The course is mainly based on independent studies/processing/reflection of historical-scientific literature. If several students choose to specialise in the same field, some seminar activity may occur.
EXAMINATION
The course is examined through independent oral examination. If the course is read at another higher education institution, it is examined over the Internet, through a written paper.

Students failing an exam covering either the entire course or part of the course two times are entitled to have a new examiner appointed for the reexamination.

Students who have passed an examination may not retake it in order to improve their grades.
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Passing grade in History, basic course, 30 HE credits and History, continuation course, 30 HE credits and at least 22.5 HE credits approved in History, in-depth course (or the equivalent). In addition to the above, documented knowledge in Swedish and English is required, equivalent to the general entry requirements for first-cycle studies.

A grade of Pass with Credit, Pass or Fail is given for the course
CERTIFICATE

OTHER INFORMATION
Planning and implementation of a course must take its starting point in the wording of the syllabus. The course evaluation included in each course must therefore take up the question how well the course agrees with the syllabus.

The course is carried out in such a way that both men´s and women´s experience and knowledge is made visible and developed.
