CONTENTS
The course covers the common market (the customs union, free mobility for goods, services, capital and manpower, Union membership and the Euro, the competition rules, etcetera). Also studied is what EC law is and its precedence over conflicting national law (EC regulations can be applied directly to Swedish courts, for example), and how it comes into existence (the legislative bodies the Commission, the Council and The European Parliament).

The course also focuses on the authorities of the legislative bodies, among other things considering the so called principle of subsidiarity and the implementation of the EC law in practice, such as how the EC law is controlled, particularly by the Court of Justice of the European Communities, through, among other things, the so called advanced notice that national courts can request. Finally covered is the joint EC foreign and security policy, as well as the rules concerning police and criminal law cooperation.
