| AIM OF THE COURSE |
On completion of the course, the student should:
- understand and be able to describe the professional conversation, based on a research-oriented and theoretical framework concerning conversations between a professional and a patient/client, and conversations between professionals,
- understand and be able to describe the conditions for the meeting with patients/clients and equivalent,
- orally and in writing, be able to discuss professional conversations, based on aspects such as, for example, identity, power, influence and stories,
- understand and be able to account for conversations between professionals as knowledge generating and socializing activities. |
| CONTENTS |
| The course introduces theories of the professional conversation's social and cultural conditions and framework, based on the social role, structure and features of the conversation. The conditions, implementation and possibilities of the professional conversation are discussed on the basis of current empirical research. Aspects such as identity, power, influence and stories are highlighted as particularly important. |
| TEACHING |
| The course consists of lectures and seminars. The students prepare individually for lectures through literature studies, as well as individually and in groups for seminars, through literature studies, group discussions and work with specific seminar assignments. Language of instruction: Swedish. |
| EXAMINATION |
The course is examined through active participation in seminars, and through written and oral assignments.
Students failing an exam covering either the entire course or part of the course two times are entitled to have a new examiner appointed for the reexamination.
Students who have passed an examination may not retake it in order to improve their grades. |

| A grade of Pass with Credit, Pass or Fail is given for the course |
| CERTIFICATE |
| Course certificate is issued by the Faculty Board on request. The Department provides a special form which should be submitted to the Student Affairs Division. |

Planning and implementation of a course must take its starting point in the wording of the syllabus. The course evaluation included in each course must therefore take up the question how well the course agrees with the syllabus.
