AIM OF THE COURSE
After completion of the course rgw student should be able to
- utilise analytical tools to examine contemporary global and specially north-south relationships,
- account for centrifugal and interactive aspects of European transnational interconnections and interdependence in broad temporal and spatial terms,
- discuss possible future developments in Europe and the EU,
- discuss possible future developments between Europe and the developing world.
CONTENTS
The aim for the student is to empirically and theoretically examine Europe's relationships with the developing world and to critically analyse temporal and spatial developments.

The course covers the following areas:
- EU as a global actor,
- EU development policies,
- EU and other regions.
TEACHING
The subject will be delivered by means of lectures for an overview of the readings and knowledge base of the subject; seminars and discussions to reinforce the knowledge gained from the lectures and the readings and which allow possibilities for reflection and discussion; and workshops. Litural studie. Language of instruction: English.
EXAMINATION
Active participation in compulsory seminars, workshops, and written essays. Take home examination.



Students who have passed an examination may not retake it in order to improve their grades.
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

In-depth study of at least 90 ECTScredits (3 semesters of full-time study) in the major subject is required, including a paper corresponding to approximately 10 weeks of study (15 ECTS).
The programme provides advanced level studies for students of political science, economics, history, sociology, and other social sciences as well as for students with other disciplinary backgrounds who can demonstrate an ability to develop their potential in the topic.
GRADING
The course is graded according to the ECTS grading scale A-F
