AIM OF THE COURSE
After completion of the course the student should be able to
- describe, understand, use and price central tools (mainly derivatives) in international corporate finance.
CONTENTS
The aim of the course is that the student shall develop an understanding of central aspects of financial decision making in a global environment.
The course focuses on financial decisions in a global environment. This is important since companies buy materials abroad, export their products, invest in foreign countries and raise funds in the international financial markets. All these activities expose companies to different kinds of risks, and it is important to understand the nature of these risks and their effects on the financial decisions of the company. The study of financial management of the international operations of corporations includes hedging and risk management. The company can use different instruments such as forwards, futures, options, swaps to handle risks, and these tools will be covered in the course.
TEACHING
The course uses a case approach. Lectures and seminars support the cases. A project approach is also used. Projects will be accomplished in a practical trading room context (Reuters environment). In addition to those, the student are expected to study on their own. Language of instruction: English
EXAMINATION
Examination of students will be carried out through a smaller individual written examination, and through group assignments (cases and projects).Detailed information about the examination can be found in the course’s study guide.

Students failing an exam covering either the entire course or part of the course two times are entitled to have a new examiner appointed for the reexamination.

Students who have passed an examination may not retake it in order to improve their grades.
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

At least two years of undergraduate studies with at least 60 ECTS credits in Business administration (equivalent). Documented knowledge of English equivalent to "Engelska B"; i.e. English as native language or an internationally recognized test, e.g. TOEFL (minimum scores: Paperbased 575 + TWE-score 4.5, internetbased 90 TWE-score 20), IELTS, academic (minimum score: Overall band 6.5 and no band under 5.5), or equivalent.
GRADING
The course is graded according to the ECTS grading scale A-F
CERTIFICATE
Course certificate is issued by the Faculty Board on request. The Department provides a special form which should be submitted to the Student Affairs Division.

The course literature is decided upon by the department in question.

Planning and implementation of a course must take its starting point in the wording of the syllabus. The course evaluation included in each course must therefore take up the question how well the course agrees with the syllabus.
