AIM OF THE COURSE
After completion of the course the student should be able to
- describe the principles of managing organizational change processes
- describe the specific theoretical approaches for understanding of organizational change and development
- discuss key topics of introduction of new technologies and how this relates to organizational change
- analyze various trends of organizational change and development and be able to show how this is expressed in various business contexts
- through application in cases, simulations etc, show their knowledge and understanding of organizational change processes
CONTENTS
In this course, through lectures and projects, student will familiarize themselves with:

* The unique characteristics of critical aspects when new structures are introduced in organizations and of the practitioners that work in them;

* The promises and problems of new technology and automation in operational environments;

Contingency theory, internationalization, corporate culture and networking can all play a role in explaining the peculiarities and difficulties of managing organizational change.
TEACHING
The course consists of lectures, seminars and workshops. The students have to work in teams both for preparation of cases and for presentation of the group discussions. Team activity is an integrated part of both the aim of the course and for understanding of the business world. Self studies is a part of the course.
Language of instruction: English.
EXAMINATION
Student’s active participation, as regards both written case study reports and discussion during the seminar. There will also be an individual written exam.

Students failing an exam covering either the entire course or part of the course two times are entitled to have a new examiner appointed for the reexamination.

Students who have passed an examination may not retake it in order to improve their grades.
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

At least two years of undergraduate studies with at least 60 ECTS credits in Business administration (equivalent). Documented knowledge of English equivalent to "Engelska B"; i.e. English as native language or an internationally recognized test, e.g. TOEFL (minimum scores: Paperbased 575 + TWE-score 4.5, internetbased 90 TWE-score 20), IELTS, academic (minimum score: Overall band 6.5 and no band under 5.5), or equivalent.
GRADING
The course is graded according to the ECTS grading scale A-F
CERTIFICATE
Course certificate is issued by the Faculty Board on request. The Department provides a special form which should be submitted to the Student Affairs Division.
COURSE LITERATURE
The course literature is decided upon by the department in question.
OTHER INFORMATION
Planning and implementation of a course must take its starting point in the wording of the syllabus. The course evaluation included in each course must therefore take up the question how well the course agrees with the syllabus.

The course is carried out in such a way that both men´s and women´s experience and knowledge is made visible and developed.
