CONTENTS | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
The course consists of two parts: The first includes a presentation of a framework on a macro and micro level for doing business internationally, i.e. the institutional context. In our aim at understanding the context in which business is done internationally we will look deeper into theories about the nature of international business, internationalisation and international business environment. This is aiming to provide you an insight into the popular theories, as well as the environment of international business operations. The focus is extended to the process of internationalisation, market entry modes and business strategies. It also looks into analytical issues unique to international business. Among the others, analysis of cultural environment, political risk assessments, exchange risk assessments and foreign investment will be addressed. The second part of the course is aiming at the application of the theories and formed as a project where you – as students – in groups will apply and use the theoretical concepts in an empirical context of your own choice. In the project you will have a large degree of freedom to cover various theoretical aspects, e.g. the managerial issues of international business operation with focus on the unique problems of international business negotiation, cross border alliances, managing diversity and co-operative strategies, etc. |
