| AIM OF THE COURSE |
On completion of the course, the student should have:
- advanced knowledge of some central problems and theories in theoretical philosophy
- developed an ability to independently handle, present and assess complex argumentation, particularly in theoretical-philosophical debates

| CONTENTS |
Extent and planning of the course
In several of the courses, the teaching may take place at another higher education institution or in the form of distance education.
Modules: 22.5 HE credits
Three modules comprising 7.5 HE credits each. The student selects courses, in consultation with the examiner and supervisor, from a local and national supply that varies from semester to semester.
Seminar, 7.5 HE credits
The seminar, which is compulsory, may present current research or bring up a central and current complex problem.

| TEACHING |
| Independent literature studies to which compulsory seminars, compulsory written assignments, oral presentations and a written examination will be added. In addition to this, other types of teaching and working methods may occur. Part of the teaching may take place at another higher education institution, and elements of distance education occur. |
| EXAMINATION |
The course is examined through compulsory seminars, essays, written assignments, written examination and oral presentations. Active individual oral participation in the seminars is required to pass the course.
Students failing an exam covering either the entire course or part of the course two times are entitled to have a new examiner appointed for the reexamination.
Students who have passed an examination may not retake it in order to improve their grades. |
| ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS |
Completed Theoretical Philosophy, basic course with 30 HE credits approved, Theoretical Philosophy, continuation course with 30 HE credits approved, and Theoretical Philosophy, in-depth course with 22.5 HE credits approved, or courses that are determined to be equivalent. In addition to the above, documented knowledge in Swedish and English is required, equivalent to the general entry requirements for first-cycle studies. |
| GRADING |
| A grade of Pass with Credit, Pass or Fail is given for the course |
| CERTIFICATE |
| Course certificate is issued by the Faculty Board on request. The Department provides a special form which should be submitted to the Student Affairs Division. |
| COURSE LITERATURE |
| The course literature is decided upon by the department
in question. |
| OTHER INFORMATION |
Planning and implementation of a course must take its starting point in the wording of the syllabus. The course evaluation included in each course must therefore take up the question how well the course agrees with the syllabus.
The course is carried out in such a way that both men´s and women´s experience and knowledge is made visible and developed. |
