AIM OF THE COURSE | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
On completion of the course, the student should be able to: - get by in the target language in most situations that may arise when travelling in the target language area, - understand clear speech, even with some regional variations, if it concerns known circumstances and own fields of interest, - participate actively in conversation about subjects that are of personal interest or linked to everyday life, - read texts with frequent vocabulary and that are linked to everyday things and work, such as simpler literary texts, - write coherent and intelligible texts about well-known subject areas and about subjects of personal interest, - demonstrate basic knowledge about everyday life, society and cultures in the target language domain, - demonstrate basic knowledge about grammatical and phonetic concepts. |

Module C, 7.5 HE credits This module comprises reading of texts that are adapted to the current level, and language exercises in the form of discussion assignments, as well as grammar and writing exercises. Module D, 7.5 HE credits This module comprises reading and language exercises. This implies reading of different types of texts, both fiction and nonfiction, and discussion of the content-based and linguistic aspects of the texts. Grammar, vocabulary and different aspects of oral and written language proficiency are also trained. |

TEACHING | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Apart from independent studies, the course includes group assignments outside scheduled time. The scheduled activities are lectures, seminars, teaching sessions and exercises. EXAMINATION | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Continuous examination of reading, oral language proficiency and realia through active and compulsory participation in the teaching and through reviews and written exercises. Written examination on vocabulary and grammar. Detailed information can be found in the study guide. Students failing an exam covering either the entire course or part of the course two times are entitled to have a new examiner appointed for the reexamination. Students who have passed an examination may not retake it in order to improve their grades. |

Specific entry requirements 2 (relevant language level 3 and En B). Exemption is given for En B and for relevant language level 3 for applicants with relevant language level 2. |

Planning and implementation of a course must take its starting point in the wording of the syllabus. The course evaluation included in each course must therefore take up the question how well the course agrees with the syllabus. The course is carried out in such a way that both men´s and women´s experience and knowledge is made visible and developed. |
