AIM OF THE COURSE
On completion of the course, the student should be able to:

- demonstrate basic knowledge in French grammar
- apply a French basic vocabulary
- write coherent and intelligible text about well-known subject areas
- speak with a pronunciation that does not hinder the understanding of the language
CONTENTS
The course is a preparatory course for further studies in French for first-cycle studies. The general aim is to create a bridge between upper secondary education and higher education in French.

Basic French grammar and pronunciation is systematically repeated in the course. The vocabulary is repeated and enriched. On the basis of a communicative perspective, these skills are trained in writing and speech.
TEACHING
The timetabled activities comprise teaching sessions, where the course contents are treated through oral and written exercises. The students are expected to participate actively. Independent studies are included in addition to the teaching sessions.
EXAMINATION
The course is examined through a written examination, written portfolio and oral examination. Comprehensive information regarding the examinations of the course can be found in the study guide to the course.


Students failing an exam covering either the entire course or part of the course two times are entitled to have a new examiner appointed for the reexamination.

Students who have passed an examination may not retake it in order to improve their grades.
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Specific entry requirements 2 (relevant language level 3 and Eng B). Exemption is given for Eng B.
GRADING
A grade of Pass with Credit, Pass or Fail is given for the course
CERTIFICATE
Course certificate is issued by the Faculty Board on request. The Department provides a special form which should be submitted to the Student Affairs Division.
COURSE LITERATURE
The course literature is decided upon by the department in question.
OTHER INFORMATION
Planning and implementation of a course must take its starting point in the wording of the syllabus. The course evaluation included in each course must therefore take up the question how well the course agrees with the syllabus.

The course is carried out in such a way that both men´s and women´s experience and knowledge is made visible and developed.
